Which PlayStation 3 package is right for me?
The PlayStation 3 is the latest computer entertainment console to hit the consumer games market. There are currently two different versions of the PlayStation 3 to choose from: The PlayStation 3 ‘Entry’ and the PlayStation 3 ‘Premium’. Each console comes with built-in Wi-Fi, as well as a Blu-ray DVD player as standard. However the main differences between the ‘Entry’ and ‘Premium’ console packages is that the ‘Premium’ console comes with an 80 GB hard drive as standard, has 3 extra USB ports, includes a Flash Card reader, and is backward compatible for both PS1, and PS2 games.
The latest Computer Entertainment Console
No matter which version you choose, with a Cell Broadband Engine™ the PlayStation 3 offers a gaming experience that is not only far superior to that of its predecessor the PlayStation 2, but can also outperform its main rivals the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii.
However, it is not just the gaming experience that the PlayStation 3 excels at, but with a built in Blu-ray Disc™ as standard on both ‘Entry’ and ‘Premium’ consoles, gaming developers now have the creativity and storage space to produce games to a level of reality that has not been possibly up until now.
It is important to note that the PlayStation 3 is not a stand-alone system. Sony have worked hard to make sure that the PS3 works together with their handheld gaming console the PlayStation Portable (PSP), allowing easy exchange of media, such as photos, video and music. Not only this, but the PSP can in fact be used as an additional controller, due to the PlayStation 3’s built-in wireless capabilities.
The PlayStation Network (PSN)
Unlike Xbox Live, Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) is free to all PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable (PSP) owners. Once connected, users will have the ability to access numerous tools and services, including: multiplayer gaming, text and video messaging, voice chatting, downloadable content and internet browsing.
